The Sunday School at the WCIC would like to  notify that the field trip to the Islamic Center will take place on Saturday February 4th and NOT Sunday February 5th. We will meet at the WCIC at 10:00 sharp.

All children 8 and under MUST be supervised by a parent.

Volunteers are needed for carpooling. If you wish to volunteers
please contact Khalid Salah at (925) 212-9230. Parents may be requested to carpool.

Some of the key duties of the committee are summarized below:

• Development of appropriate policies and procedures regarding the acquisition, running, and maintenance of the physical facilities and services of Darulislam for review and approval by the Board of trustees.
• Development of long-range and annual operational and financial plans and budgets for Board’s review and approval
• Overseeing actual financial and operational activities and make necessary adjustment to achieve budgeted goals and objectives.
• Oversees the development and running of Masjid’s programs and services that satisfies the needs of the community members.
• Maintaining the Masjid’s physical properties in good operating conditions and keeping all facilities clean and accessible to community members as warranted
• Implement fundraising events and carryout projects which are aimed at expanding the membership base of Darulislam Masjid, and .
• Hold routine general meeting which are open to all community members and run efficient and effective communication programs to keep the community well informed.

The Committee membership is made up of the following positions:

• The committee is chaired by the Director of Operations
• Members of the Operations Committee include,
• Operations Accountant,
• Masjid Imam
• Fund raising Coordinator,
• Facilities Operations Coordinator,
• Membership and Communication Coordinator,
• Events Coordinator and Committee Secretary,
• Women Coordinator,
• Youth Coordinator, and
• Children Coordinator.

Aside from the Masjid Imam and the Director of Operations, all other committee positions  are open for members of  Darulislam community who are willing and able to volunteers their time and service by  actively participating in keeping the Masjid and all
its programs running smoothly and efficiently.

Each of coordinators will be forming a small working group to help them in carrying out the responsibilities of their functions. Some of the committee positions and functional working groups have already been filled. We sincerely hope you will answer this call and join us in managing the affairs of your Darulislam Masjid. May Allah (s.w.t.) bless and reward all those who, in spite of their busy schedules, find the time and energy to serve his Masjid and its community.

We would like to extend our warm congratulations to all community members for the new Hijra Year and pray to Allah (s.w.t.) for many happy and blessed returns.

It has been almost six months since moving to our new facilities at 2449 Buena Vista Ave in Walnut Creek. The inputs we have been receiving from many of you make us feel that we have been truly blessed to acquire such a property for Darulislam Masjid.  The property prime location and its ideal overall layout have, wa Alhamd Lellah, exceeded all our expectations and have allowed us to smoothly expand  the offering of  a  large portfolio of services and programs for all ages in our community.

With your support and active participation, we have completed a good number of facility improvement projects and introduced expanded educational, social, and other programs that have, hopefully, addressing the needs of the adults , youth and children in our  greater community. Our focus in 2012 will be centered on continually expanding our membership base and improving the overall operations of Darulislam Masjid. Additionally, we are currently completing the development of a strong and hopefully successful fundraising program, sufficient to meet the scheduled payments of the no-interest loan over the next two years. In the meantime, we urge you, your family and friends to generously give tax-exempt donations and zakat payments to Darulislam Masjid to allow it to be free of any debt as soon as possible.

Your direct involvement and support of the operations, and services/programs, offered by your Darulislam Masjid, are encouraged and appreciated. You have a chance to achieve this worthy objective by volunteering to join the Operations Committee of the Masjid.

• Most of the facilities have been painted,
• All facilities, including the main prayer area have received new carpets and/or hardwood flooring,
• The installation of a new canopy over the court yard is almost completed,
• Bathrooms have been remodeled and their wudu capacity has been expanded,
• A complete locking system has been installed, covering all the buildings. The system makes the different facilities accessible as needed,
• The landscaping of the site is gradually being improved, and
• A number of small projects has also been completed.

B.   New Acquired Equipment:

• A surveillance camera system has been installed,
• An audio system has been installed which covers all buildings on the site,
• The Youth Center has been equipped with an audio/visual system, making suitable for occasional use for prayers,
• A computer bank has been installed in the library,
• BBQ equipment, gaming equipment for youths and children, some kitchen equipment, shoe racks, and water coolers have been received as donation and/or purchased, and
• A number of small purchases have been made.

C.  In-Process Projects:

• Surfacing and lining up of the parking areas
• Installing an awning system over the shoe racks area
• Tiling the court yard area
• Equipping the Youth Center with additional gaming equipment.

D.  Educational/Social and Other Events and Activities:

• Events to celebrate both Eid El-Fitr and Eid El-Adha,
• Continuation of the Sunday School programs,
• Introduction of a series of Islamic/Arabic classes,
• Initiated a guest-speaking program,
• Continuation of the Friday lessons (dars),
• Held a general community meeting. Routine general meetings are planned in the future,
• Sent two comprehensive progress reports to all community members. Similar reports will be sent out on a quarterly basis,
• Offered daily and Saturday potluck Iftars throughout the Holy month of Ramadhan.
